EPC light + acceleration cut out

Hi chaps.. the other halfs Ibiza's EPC light turned on today, along with that, when you push the acceleration pedal.. the car will accelerate for maybe 3/5 seconds then cut out.. the only way to keep accelerating is literally lifting your foot off the pedal and on again every 5 seconds or so..

Any idea what this can be? Done a search and people have said it could be a sensor, or a microswitch or the pedal itself?

Is there anything I should be looking at first before I take it to a mechanic?

Need the car for an airport run on Tuesday so I only really have tomorrow to sort it out.

Have you read the codes? Try clearing the codes and see if it runs better. My car done this and it turned out to be the EGR valve causing the car to go into limp mode. Could also be a lambda sensor.

Update: my mechanic looked at it.. found that the EPC light was coming on because a brake light was out (?).. and the acceleration issue was caused by a mucky throttle body. He cleaned it out and haven't had a problem since! (Touchwood!)
