error when searching

hello,
i am searching for car mat in teh leon mk1 section and am getting the below:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /var/www/web1/web/forums/search.php on line 1160

happens if quick search or advanced search option is used.
if search for mat all ok, not car mat!

Yes, happens for me too.

It's searching for all threads that contain 'car' or 'mat'

A search for 'car' doesn't actually max out, but I'd guess 'car' and anything else does - it's a car forum, I can't see tha point in using 'car' in the search.....

'Car + mat' maxes out in advance search too, but car doesn't.

'Car seat' maxes out too (by either means)

I think the answer is - too general a search term. When you're searching, you need to be as specific as possible.

downside when i search for mat, i got about 6million unwanted results to do with anything exept mats!

Search>Advanced Search> enter 'Mat' > Search Titles Only.


(Mat did post a huge pile of crap..... )

narrowed down as said, but can never tell what the title will be for some topics.
