Errrrm.............my gearbox has gone!

My gearbox has gone big time!

Unable to select 1st, 2nd, 5th & reverse. Clutch is burning like hell because im having to set off in 3rd!

A mate of mine is a mechanic and can fit me a new clutch for £100. Problem is finding one!

Im guessing Seat will bum rape me if i get one from them. Ive looked on ebay but not joy.........

HELP!

if you can get another gearbox, its not to hard to fit if you want to have a go at it yourself, did mine in a couple of days working on it after work
all you really need is some splined sockets for the drive shafts, a drainplug socket, a breaker bar is usefull, 2 trolly jacks ( i did mine with 1 but 2 would have made it a hell of a lot easier )
and you could do the clutch yourself whilst its out if you get a clutch alignment tool.

I was jumping the gun by saying it was the gearbox.

It was actually the shitty plastic gear linkage that snapped. Me and a friend went to the local scrappers and knicked one from a VW Corrado.

Works a treat now!

Is it the same as his? don't forget the 1.8's have the 020 gearbox & a rod linkage

I think mines cables? Was fairly easy to do and is now better than before. The cable was held onto the linkage unit by a flimsy peice of plastic but now its actually bolted to it. I will take a pic of it tomorrow and post it so you can see.
