Well the cable arrived today. Had a bit of difficulty with the drivers as the CD that comes with the cable doesn't allow them to work on windows 7 however after a bit of digging I worked out how to do it and I've managed to get the SKC from my current cluster!Just need to check the replacement cluster now.
What did you have to do to get it working on windows 7?
Yes Rich, but I ordered it from a selled based in the US as if there was any issues I could go through a dispute and get answers in English. Took a week to arrive and has worked fine so far.
I followed a guide from my VAG COM cable and also a guide on youtube. It told me where to download a driver to make the cable work. Seemed to do the trick just fine and an easy process too...can send you the info if you want?

I have to admit I'm not sure how the part numbering worsk on SEAT but I know the VW ones changed early '06 - now some have to be compatible with door modules due to the LIN protocol which earlier models didn't use, so it isn't always a caser that a newer one is better.
As all Leon's are 5 door, then don't buy one that came factory fitted into a 3 door VW.
Best way to see what one you want is get someone with the spec you want and ask them to relay the part number - I have 1K0 959 433 BT in both the Golf and Altea (coincidentally) and have rain-closing, coming home lights etc. Stuff that I don't use as I have VCDS but it's nice to have a menu

Thing is it doesnt mention mk1 leon, which I could do with as well
Well I was swapping over the whole cluster so that's were I struggled...went to Midlands VW who did it all for me of £50 but they confirmed that the Pin code I got was the same as the one they obtained.
As for using it on an MK1...no idea to be honest.

Ive ordered the cable so will see how it goes.
In the mean time, Ive programed the remote on the mk2 for central locking, and order the key blades from keysinthepost.com

Can anyone confirm VAG Commander 1.4 connects to the older style instrument clusters up until 2009, i.e. the pre-facelift clusters? Only needed for extracing SKC and correcting mileage.
Works for all MK5 Golfs with the old immo4 system as far as i know, only need to know which system the Leon/Altea/Toledo used until 2009.

It should do...it connects in the same location as all the other cables, I.e. just below the steering wheel (RHD cars...not sure if LHD cars are the same?)
