The so called globalists which is an invention of those trying to defeat those that are trying to live within the decaying world. COP are obviously the "globalists" in this demented world that were late to the party that dont understand climate change.
There were other scenarios that bothered people 50 years ago. Finite
resources and global war. It turned out we didnt need to worry about finite
resources since the world has quite a bit of everything and global war as they fought over those finite
resources. But those late to the party want to carve up what kept the world stable from war by zoning the world differently. Another story. Ask Trump and Putin.
The developing world as seen 50 years was judged by some to be unsustainable as fossil fuels were dug up and burnt. Fossil fuels being the little critters that lived on the earth for billions of years that then release the carbons that that create chaos to climate. Coal obviously plant life, oil the critters.
Well if you had been to the developing world 50 years ago you wouldn't have seen Delhi covered in smog. Singapore under the cloud of the rainforest being burnt in Malaysia etc. Ice caps now melting. Sea levels going to go up by many feet. Cliffs collapsing, roads going under and being rerouted as being uneconomic to do anything. Climate change as witnessed by the current lows that Europe is locked into.
Well it wasnt the globalists that unlocked all of this but un-throughfull technical development of only using technology in world economic development that didnt create chaos. Bit of a bummer for some engineers that love their fossil fuels, that they would have to use technologies that didn't create world chaos. Ofcourse there are many that say it's not our
problem. Bit late to the party on that one. The anti globalists are trying to make a fast buck by not playing within the new rules. Quick profit today and not worry about the future.
I did work in one of the university think tanks to all of this, but the idea of living off research grants put me off. This think tank were naysayers but it turned out that they were probably wrong. Technology change was the answer and they were correct on that - they didnt dispute that since that was their subject. The fix was electric cars etc. Clean energy etc.
It spurred energy research groups and climate change groups across universities. I got offered a research job in energy up north when my contract finished on telecommunications futures but opted for good old management science, leaving futures research behind. Now everybody thinks they can do management science with a spreadsheet but that is another story. What I did learn from this research unit was the
service industry was the growth industry, so you'd get a career in that and yes British industry collapsed as manufacturing moved abroad, all part of world development and trade. Handy working for a think tank at the time. Was one of those TV personalities I use to work with who would pop up on TV from time to time. Another one who I shared an office with did the same on climate change. I'm off to the studio for a radio link he'd say. In those days you had to go to local radio stations for your national broadcast. Sun and sand by the sea. More pebble. Guess he'd have a
YouTube channel these days. Even I have full fibre now to the home which was a twinkle in the Post Offices eye at the time. No need for Prestel (spelling) got the Internet. Technology development used correctly is the answer to man's issues, obviously luddities can't handle that one.
