Multitronic is the Audi CVT auto box - supposed to be very good.

Essentially yeah - you then get a 'manual' override where the computer will give 6/7 fixed ratios to give the feel of a bit of driver involvement.

its not as good as the dsg box and because the ratios change the revs don't always rise which seems odd. They need the 40k service otherwise they tend to break.

It's a different sort of box to the DSG, so it's difficult to say one's 'better'.

The DSG is set-up for performance - the Multitronic for comfort

I agree, one is a gearbox the other is a box of belts, they both do the same job in the end, I did try the A4 before the dsg and I think the DSG is smoother.

DSG wont fit in the older format audi a4 that why they we wont get it
