Exhaust fitment

Hi guys,

New to this forum but expecting to collect my Cupra Ateca before the end of the month, very excited.

It's a pre-facelift. I've been looking at exhausts and have done a search to see if there were any threads on it already or not but wasn't able to find anything.

Would anyone happen to know if any other VAG exhausts would also fit the Cupra Ateca such as from a Golf R or similar? GPF-back.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

Why change the exhaust?

Doesn't the prefacelift Cupra Ateca have the same Akrapovic as the MY21 onwards version?

As far as I understand, from stock its not an Akrapovic exhaust, that only came on the Limited edition cars from factory? Perhaps I'm wrong...

Was about to ask the same question as my thoughts were that the Limited edition came with the Akrapovic exhaust.
Wondering if the 2023/24 stock cars will have the that exhaust or just standard pipes.
I assumed that my 21 plate has standard set up as no logo to identify as Akrapvic.

On reflection, considering the price adjustment on the prefacelift LE for an Akropovic exhaust, the standard one is most likely from the VAG Group parts bin.

It is though fitted with a flap / valve that gets opened when you put the Engine into Cupra mode, for a free flow exhaust with more burble to it (at least it is on my October '70 MY21 version).

Non LE editions of PLF cupras came with standard exhaust and not Akrapovič, which is to be honnest a bit silent and dissapointing. I used to have Hyundai Kona N and the exhaust was the best part of it, also having it in sport mode meant that flaps are open while on cupra they are dynamic and not fully open all the time in cupra mode and even if you fully open them the sound is still meh

Yep, I've since changed it for a Milltek system. Stock system was pants. Lol

Though it does sound much better. It is a deeper tone than factory and crackles a bit louder. It's still not significantly louder due to OPF filters on these newer cars.

Hi Shuaibakhtar

Apart from the better sounds has the performance increased with the Milltek system?

I'll be honest, I didn't notice and performance gains. You'll probably see gains if you did an opf delete/decat if anything but then you'd need to get the car mapped.
