Exhaust Manifold CRACKED

Hi,

Apparently my exhaust manifold is very slightly cracked & thus a possible source of an air leak.

Any ideas on where I can buy a replacement exhaust manifold for the CHEAPEST possible?

My turbo seems to be slightly intermitant when boosting, so possible this exhaust manifold crack has anything to do with this?

Who told you that the exhaust mani is cracked??

Could just be a gasket thats gone gone (normaly is)...

Hi,

Mechanic was looking for air leak & said possible air leak through crack in exhaust manifold. I have no idea of how cracked it actually is. I'm guessing not too bad as I cannot hear anything blowing.

If I need a need exhaust manifold, whats the part number & how much should I expect to be paying?

I'd get second oppinion (sp) as these dont crat very often. But the mani to turbo gasket is prone to blowing..

You can pick up a second hand mani for under £50.... PM Scott-O as I think he has one for sale..

doesnt sound cracked to me as you stated you can not here it blowing ???? think you need a proper vw tech involved sounds somethink simple could your dumpvalve be stuck open ???? id be vag.com 1st and 2nd find a better mechanic who knows this range of cars imo as stated if its blowing anyway this is most commonly gasket only

Is a common thing for the gasket to go. Their only a few £££ . Think I paid £3 plus vat.
It turned out my manifold was cracked. They can be welded, but certain places , but I just got a 2nd hand one. I paid £65 Inc delivery , and that had 69k on the part.is yours a auq engine??? What ever the engine code is , just ask for one off that. Didn't have any probs getting one. Google for seat spares. If you struggle pm me' and I'll dig the number out where I got mine from.

Hi,

Its an AUQ engine. I guess its best to buy a gasket & the manifold. Surely the mechanic wouldn't say the manifold is cracked if its just the gasket gone?

I'm not very good at sourcing spares, so any help with where to buy these items from cheaply is MOST appreciated.

Mechanic says its got a dump valve fitted, but I'm guessing they would realise if its stuck open?

Either way it has to come off to change gasket or change mani. Go to the stealers for your gaskets. There not expensive. There are 2 different types of gaskets to the turbo. For what it cost I just got both of them.
The name of the company is german spares in Sheffield . I'll pm you their number. Ordered the part at lunch time , and was with me' next day.

Hi does any1 no anything about my problem.when i accelerate my car sucks in air like thers no airfilter on the car. Its got a reloction pipe that bends down to bottom of the engine but cnt work it out??
