external temp sensor

this is the sensor in the n/s front bumper on the lc. mine seems to read 2-3 degrees warmer than it should.

does this sensor have any use other than the beep warning and dash display?

does the ecu use this temp reading in the choke cycle at start up?

it'll be used for air con as well

but you can locate it elsewhere if you think it's getting heat radiated from other sources

hmmm this is from a cold engine as well as warm. other day it was 4 onstart up then after 3 minute idle and 200 yds later it was 2.5 ? thing is i was scraping frost off the window! mates fto reads 3 degrees colder . nothing on vag com so it hasnt failed but..?

funny tho.. when my water pump started dying i noticed the heater seemed cooler, maybe ive got used to it . think i need a new sensor.

not linked in the choke cycle tho?
