is the mk2 due for a facelift (major or minor) anytime soon? reason for asking is i'll be buying this year and would rather wait if updated model on the way.

Not heard anything of a facelift. Got told theres a Leon CC coming out next year with the same look as the current model tho, dont think it will be for a while yet if there is a facelift coming out:)

as far as i am aware there is no facelift due

heard about a convertable but dont think its going to happen TBH

I asked my dealer the same question. Apparantly nothing is planned for 2008 but there is the possibility of minor cosmetic changes in 2009 including the possibility of LED headlights similar to the Audi A4/5/R8. There is a picture of a SEAT prototype convertable in one of the magazines this week (think it was Autocar)and that has LEDs so could be similar.

There was a Cupra K1 at Autosport, AFAIK it was just a Cupra with the Aero Kit.

As a general rule most mainstream cars get replaced with a new model after 6 years and mid life change after 3, although depending on how well the car is selling, is often just a few minor changes rather than a facelift.

Going on this theory maybe late this year at the earliest.

thanks guys, i suppose i went for my mk1 knowing a new mod was on the way, so no harm in going for a mk2 even if a new model will be out by 2009 / 2010 or thereabouts.
