Does it have a triangle with kkk inside it or one big k on the casing anywhere, there should also be a metal plate rivited to the casing, with all the info about the turbo etched on to it! I'm no expert mate, far from it, and bill is greatly respected on this forum by everyone including me! But something just ain't right! I done a little research on this last night, there is alot of fake stuff out there, including people with genuine borg warner casings and fitting cheap poor fitting chra's! I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud here but I hate to see people being ripped off!

The info tag picture is on the first page mate, I will look for triangle with kkk or one big k and post pic if it there.

Yeah I kinda thought something wasn't right too hence the post.

But as you said bill is well respected and knows his stuff ,hopefully he might come up with a solution.

I have been doing some research too ,but cant find any easy way of identifying wether it real or not.

Hi Slim , yeah its got a triangle with a k in it and what looks like GGG next to it will post pics tomorrow .

That's on the hotside which Bill thinks looks genuine. As you said it doesn't mean the chra is real or the inlet.

Still wondering why there is machine marks on inside of hotside?

I Might need to send it to a rebuild company get them to check it out but thats money I could do without spending atm.

I gotta say, everything so far is pointing at the genuine article, and you just got a great deal! But I'm gona stop short like everyone else and just say it looks real!lol but I you want piece of mind take it to an expert so he/she can physically examine it! Or contact BW directly with as much details and pics as you can, I looked at a few other forums with regards to fake K04's and quite a few stated that BW were as pissed as we are with fakers using their name, and were happy to help!

Hi guys not looking good found this on Audizine

Borg Warner does NOT dermal serial numbers. His first one, the one he's replacing, is real and engraved by laser etch.

The replacement, is not, is most likely a Chinese duplicated fake made with: Chinese, Made In Germany, badges.

The fact it has all the oil feed plugs and covers in place might suggest it was never in an engine to start with, or it was, blew up and had the internals replaced with another cheap Chinese copy, which could also explain the tool marks inside! Id just get in touch with the guy you bought it from, and hit him with whatever evidence you have! See what he says! Find out what brand new engine it came off too!! Only a few have this type of exhaust flange, you might trip him up that way!
