Few Problems/Questions

Alright guys, how's it going?

Got a few problems/questions I'd like to ask regarding my car & I would appreciate some advice...

1) My car makes the most awful sound ever sometimes.. 99% of the time it sounds absolutely fine, but then it sometimes sounds as if there's a major problem, often after the engine has stopped, sounds like a pump but sometimes makes the sound when the engine is running. Sometimes sounds like a dodgy fan belt (I know we don't have these), sometimes like an alarm, and sometimes like a boiling kettle (old school type- whistle sound). The car is also losing water.. so I'm thinking secondary water pump?

2) The clutch is absolutely shot, can barely drive it on boost now as it slips so much, any recommendations? I believe it's the standard clutch at the moment, I've heard the VR6/G60 one is good??

3) My alloy wheels on the front are the wrong offset, they stick out too much and scrapes on the arch when going round corners any faster than a snails pace! I know the simple solution would be to raise the car, but it's simply that they're the wrong offset. Was thinking I could maybe reduce the offset somehow? Maybe get the innards shaved down? Not sure here.. think I may have to get new wheels!

4) My CD changer randomly jumps on a few CD's, the CD's can even be brand new, but it randomly skips. Is there a way of cleaning the unit?

5) Which oil & plugs are people recommending nowadays? Coming up to service time and wanting to get the recommended!

6) MAF flow never goes above 160g/s, should this be higher with k03s + cc2? I think that it might be faulty, or it may have something to do with my Jetex max flow 200 something bhp filter!

Any idea where the sound is coming from exactly? Could be youre coolant afterun pump, its in the front of the bay under tha black cross panel.

VR6 clutch with a G60 flywheel is a good choice for your power rhys. Wont find it much cheaper than a main dealers really.

So they sit too far into the arch? Just use spacers.

Use a disc cleaner from tescos.

5) Which oil & plugs are people recommending nowadays? Coming up to service time and wanting to get the recommended!

Get a good quality brand new fully synthetic and some plugs like IK22's, BKR7E's or PFR6Q's.

160 isnt that bad, as a rule of thumb a k03s should see about 160-180 ish. What mods do you have?

I remember daz' cupra with all the same performance mods as me never gettin above 160.

Number 1 is defo due to the water leak. Basically the system is getting air in it and the secondary water pump doesn't like it! There shouldn't be any need for a new pump, if you fix the leak it won't get anymore air in it and it should be fine

Phil, I mean they stick too far out WITHOUT spacers! I'll have to show you to explain what I mean properly. And regarding mods.. k03s, customcode2, laguna fmic, 3" downpipe + decat with exhaust and a jetex cone (which is possibly restrictive!)

Wheels, as we said before there must be a way of milling off a few mm but still clearing the brakes!

Does it go well? I wouldnt get too hung on g/s readings tbh. Where is your MAF? Do you have a decent length of pipe between the filter and the MAF? If the maf is too clsoe to the filter it can effect figures.

Not sure waht to suggest on the wheels tho.

Yeh it goes really well. MAF is in normal place, perhaps 3 inches from filter. Wheels I think i'm gonna have to sell!
