Right, trial fit tonight and it doesn't look easy, I will try and get picturse, but they don't fit behing 17 FR alloys, with a 15mm spacer, but the disc is rubbing on the inside of the calliper, so this is good as the calliper needs pulling closer to the hub, so 20mm spacers should clear them. LCR pads do fit too, so all I need is a little filing of the calliper, and hoses now. I wouldn't reccomend anyone doing it though lol, not fun! Anyway, wish me luck!

If theyre the same calipers as the LCR then of course they wont fit behind 17" wheels. Thats why the LCR has a full size spare :)

Keep up the good work!

I don't think you quite get me lol, This is what I mean

That's with a 15mm spacer. So what I need to do, is put another washer in between the adapter and the hub, so it pulls the calliper more into the arch when it's all tight. Therefore, the wheel should also clear the calliper with a 20mm spacer. (I'll swap my front with back and get 25mm backs)
Just a taster....

This is what the back looks like, I wasnt helped today by having no torx screws holding my discs in, I need to get some and drill the old studs out again and have a better go tomorrow! Don't mind the absolutely filthy wheels either!!

Get someone to make spacers out of steel or stainless on a lathe. As big as possible. Reasoning is washers are usually punched out and unless they are specifically meant as shims are never flat. Aluminium is not the right material for the loads involved also. IMHO

Lcr brembo's fit behind 17's! It entirely depends on wheel style and offset!

Heres my brembo 323's behind 17's on 2 occassions

Were they a tight fit? I'm having a massive eBay messaging argument because he's now told me I need to modify the f**king hubs too! Threatening to start a bad buyer case against me too. *****

On the s3 alloys (anthracite ones) they were a straight fit (no spacers)

The top alloys are porsche twists so i had to run adaptors anyways! 35mm adaptors :O :O

What need modifying on the hub and were you not warned before hand? Good old ebay eh!!

I'm not 100% yet, the seller didn't say the hub needs modifying on the listing. He has threatened me, and I've threatened him back, as eBay takes the buyers side initially in 99% of the cases, and then if it turns out the buyer is at fault, they keep the money refunded by the seller, and the seller claims it off eBay. I sold a spares iPhone on there, and it ended up the buyer didn't know how to fix it, so sent it back in a different condition to what I sent it, and got his money!! If it turns out I can't do it, I'll buy some LCR brembo's as I've got the discs and pads already....

Will LCR carriers not make them fit?
Why do the hubs need modifying?

No because these callipers don't have a carrier, its one whole unit, they are lug fitted. That's why I've had to use adapters.

The refurb kit has arrived, so I'll do a bit more work on them tomorrow after work and get the thread updated. Kit looks good, not going to replace calliper bolts and stuff but seals, nipples and rubber caps I'm going to do!

Yeah I've done all the seals except one, new nipples and rubber caps, new shims and hex bolts. Finally worked out how they go on the hub I think too, I'll update this in a couple of weeks, because I'm off home tomorrow and then skiing in Bavaria the week after! Free!! Cheers then. Anywya, picking the lines up off Bill hopefully so watch this space

Great work man, really! I'm going to perform the same upgrade on my seat ibiza mk4, but I have a question. Why didn't u use the fiat brake pads? Is it because the fiat uses a smaller diameter disc, and thus the pads have the wrong shape for the 323mm discs?

I hope this will work on the ibiza too, but I'm pretty confident! Good luck, I'll keep my eye on this one.

No the pads are the same, and I got lcr yellow stuff really cheap, so why not lol. Mines on hold at the moment, I'm in Germany, and got bigger issues like dodgy turbo AND gearbox! Still needs mapping too. I will do it as quick as I can, and maybe knock up some sort of quids as I'm sure people will be interested. I'm not going to lie, it's a lot of work but it will be worth it if it does work. I need different wheels with a different et etc....

Yeah it would be great if this works, very cheap alternative. I have the Ibiza cupra wheels, so clearance shouldn't be a problem (the AP racing calipers are even wider). For now you didn't have to modify the hubs right? Cos on eBay the mk4 golf hub needed a little bit of grinding off. Not sure yet if this is the case on the Ibiza too.

The seller sold them to me saying just the calliper needed a little ground off, so if I can't get them to fit then he can have them back as sold with an incorrect description! So far I haven't touched the hub.
