Field measures

Hi everyone,

I logged on Erwin for an hour of access for some technical information about my car and incidentally saw that a field measure was entered for my VIN, just three days ago. It's a '25 Cupra Ateca TSI ACT 150 with a build date of October 27, 2024; but I believe most of the Atecas built around that date with different powertrains or trim levels might be affected by the same situation. It says "Automatic Headlight Adjustment" as you can see in the screenshot below, but there's no further information in Erwin, for an ordinary user like me at least. So I sent a message to Service Supervisor at my local dealer asking about it and she quickly got back with this: "Due to a wrong parameterisation in the automatic headlight adjustment control unit, an update is offered for affected cars". Now I'm pressuring her for a quick reservation to perform the update :)

Anyway, I might be the only one in my country who calls the dealer and tells them there's a field measure; they probably wouldn't be calling anybody for that and it would be performed only if there's a complaint that might be related. So I advise that everyone should be asking the dealer for field measures from time to time, or better purchase a one-hour access to Erwin and check by yourselves.

Cheers,
Serdar

For UK vehicles, generally speaking, if the service measure/campaign/recall is a safety related issue then the manufacturer will inform the registered keeper of the vehicle in conjunction with the DVLA via the postal system.

Non safety related issues like product enhancements or refinements will simply be carried out on a routine visit to the workshop.

There is a system for checking outstanding recalls on the UK government website, I'm not sure how comprehensive it is though.

If your local dealer is helpful enough them I'm sure they'll pass the relevant info along.

An update on the subject:

Dealer now says it's not just an update for headlight range control unit (by the way, there's no control unit with that name in '25 Ateca, I believe they mean 4B - Multifunction Module), it is a "base line update" that involves a lot of control units. Not sure that's the correct action for field measure 94S7 that I saw in Erwin, because I don't trust the knowledge of tech guys in the dealer and their care for things like this. I remember them trying to install a genuine accessory RVC in my '18 Leon without success and I had to intervene and lead them to correct path in ODIS.

@James_R I wanted to ask your opinion on this, did you hear something like "base line update" before, and could there be a way to get a second opinion on what the correct action is for 94S7 field measure ?

Thanks in advance,
Serdar

A baseline update basically means that a software update suite is required. The update suite involves updating all applicable control modules so they are of an equal version.

VWG started to use PV (product version) update suites early last year. They apply to anything using the 2024 onwards vehicle infrastructure.

You might of seen the term "PV2..." or "PV4" mentioned across forums before, that's what it refers to.

Thanks for the quick response. 🙏🏻

I definitely would like to have that suite of updates done on my car, but I have some codings and adaptations made on some of them, the major one being the new FeC codes for navigation activation on infotainment.

An update is most likely to remove all changes done before, I guess; and I would have to get them done again.

Now I wonder if it is possible at all to install those updates selectively?

I would imagine that there will be a way around it at some point.

Any legitimate function thats been activated using ODIS and sWap codes will be restored on your vehicle, any alterations made outside what VWG have stored on their servers will be lost.
