first polish for new leon amI on the right lines?

My Leon is 3 weeks old (aaaaaahhh!) I have washed it three or four times using a mitt, two buckets and Autoglym shampoo. Dried using Flash car wash dioniser (didnt use the flash shampoo as it seemed a bit 'fairy liquid'). I've coated the calipers and hubs in high temperature laquer so they're protected from the elements, now I'd like to protect the red paintwork and maintain the gorgeous shine it has at the moment. (Is it just me or do the red ones look particularly glossy when new?

The car is pretty much swirl free (amazing some of the stories on here about brand new cars covered in swirls) and when I run my hands over it the surface is really smooth so I dont think it needs claying but it does have one or two areas where you can see some (very) minor dealer installed polish marks.

I'd like to just protect the car as much as possible and cover the minor polish marks so I'm thinking;

Autoglym srp for the polish marks (already got this so would like use it) followed by Autoglym (cant remember the name but its the one that is basically a protectant and has no cleaners in it).

What I definitely dont want to do is put swirl marks on the paint when I polish it!

It says on Autoglyms web site to use a cotton cloth to apply and remove their polish products. However, from what I've read on here, I should be using a foam applicator to apply the wax.

So, should I use a foam applicator with Autoglym products, should I use a cotom cloth or something else to remove them and is my planned use of srp followed by the 'top coat one' going to adequate to maintain the 'as new look'

SRP and Extra Gloss Protection (thats the product you had forgotten the name of!) will be fine. I would apply and work the SRP using a microfibre applicator pad, and remove with a decent microfibre cloth, same for the EGP.

The SRP is applied and worked until it breaks down, the EGP is just applied very lightly in thin layers, you don't rub it in. A couple of layers, 24 hours apart are ideal. Leave each layer as long as is practical before buffing off.

No need to wash it unless you have left it overnight. Just SRP, then EGP.
