044 can do upto 10 or 12 bar. Cant remember which it is now. I think the inline pump bill runs if its a kjet one will do upto 14 bar or something.

I see what you are saying flapper. If the intank pump fails the 044 will not be able to supply the same amount of fuel as with the intank pump working. The car will run but go dangerously lean if on boost. Sounded like the guy that told me this knows from experience with having a 1.8T intank pump fail and the 044 just getting him home.

ye the 044 on its own running 3bar low pressure in with a std pump thats failed isnt gonna work

but an 044 with extra pressure 5/6/7 on its own is going to be enough surely ?

Would have said so. Dont know what effect raising the fpr pressure over what the intank pump can supply will have even with the higher pressure inline pump?

Also mapping capabilities as some mappers will only want to stick to 3/4bar.

its all in the maths really and will need all taken into account

dragster runs @ under 2 bar (twin BIG carbs) and nitrous kits needing supply but with 16mm hose and a pump running 1600L an hour freeflow its the equivalent to 5x044's all in one but thats all about volume flow rather than pressure all very complicated

personally i'd keep it simple with one correct pump/tank set at relevant pressure all setup for one job, adding inner pumps @ different rates and more into the system than needed will only complicate it and make more to go wrong

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not looking to disagree. :) Maybe I'm missing something...

I've fitted an inline pump on the understanding that if I get sudden failure of my in-tank pump whilst under serious load, my inline would supply the fuel to prevent sudden lean-ness, detonation and loss of piston crowns /valves etc.

If it isn't going to supply the goods at that crucial moment, I don't quite see the point of having it........

in line pump you have is additional to the intank std pump dave? its sustained supply pressure + flow that the 2nd pump is delivering.

I would'nt like to predict how fueling will flow if with either pump stopped and the other either had to suck thru the other or blow thru the other..

Yes Bill, additional inline.

I've tried running with no power to the inline, and it's fine. Haven't tried it the other way round (no power to the std pump) but in the interests of science - it's maybe worth a cautious experiment.

just realised my injector rails have a single inlet and no return or regulator and been told the pump is flow sensing and ecu controlled - ahhh great this is gonna be even more fun
