Did mine a few weeks ago. the whole front end up support on axle stands. i removed my intercooler pipes and disconnected the power steering banjo going into the pump to give a bit more space. tottally removed the subframe at the front of the engine. lossened the subframe at the rear on the drivers side and dropped it at the passenger side. remove passnenger side strut to aid in refitting of the box.
Whereas i had it on two axle stands at the front, took the battery out, the std intercooler, remove the shafts (can be done with drivers still in the hub, but its easyer to just remove it) unbolting the drop links for the anti roll bar helps the wishbone come out the hub, the starter, the mount attached to it, and gearbox mounts, bowden cables etc, then took the box out.
lie under it and drop it out on to your chest, a friend to
help from the top is recommended, but i have done it myself, both removal and fitting,
undoing the power steering, removing the subframe and loosening everything else is a lot of unnessesary work!! (plus tracking will need done again as the subframe may have moved, and loosening the subframe means the engine is loose too as it mounts to the subframe!) plus removing a strut, thats a lot of work too, splitting brakes etc
