flip keys ( blade cut)

hi guys
went to my local timpsons today to get me blank blade cut and they said they couldnt do it due to the keys wiping off cars data :s they said i would have to get done by dealers and would be around £260
does anyone now where i can get it done and if what she told me was a load of shite?

I went to my local timpsons and they said they would cut it and programe the key. But they wanted £75 to do this. I told them it didn't have a chip in it, but they insisted it would still be the same price.
I then went to the local key cutters and they done it for £7.

Took another key to get cut there so I could have a spare flip key, but the blade wasn't right and ended up cutting right through it. He thought it may have been a copy, so didn't charge me for the second key.

I'd suggest a normal key cutting place should do it no problem.

I got it done by this guy on eBay

He can either do it from the 4 digit SKC or just a decent picture of the old blade (which I did!) and mine is a perfect copy of my own.

I used the same bloke as GlanzaV. He provided the blank and is able to get the code from a photo, so cuts from the code rather than a copy of a potentially worn key. The blade fits all locks perfectly. He also supplied me with a new transponder chip. I then got this programmed by shark performance in Mansfield (£30, only took a few minutes). I'd recommend both for service.

i need it done before mid week next week so quite urgent so havent got time to send it away thanks for the links and advice i went to a local key cutters and they said it would have to be done on a laser. found a place but they have quoted me £20 just to have blade cut?

The e-bay chap was very good with communication for me - there is a phone number on his listing, you could give him a call and see if he could do it in time?

I went to my local VW dealer, less then £10 and took them about 30 seconds

had mine cut at locksmiths in Lichfield,a 15 mile drive but somebody on here recommended them and only cost a fiver so worth it. was 2 years ago so guess prices might have gone up though.
