Fog light converted to cold air intake...

Hey guys been doing some cheap mods to my Cupra recently and decided to do something about my broken near side fog light. Had a wee idea for it!!

I first of all removed all the broken glass with pliers and scraped away all the sealant used to hold the glass in. Now as this unit is sealed a took a hack saw to the back and opened it up where I was able to remove the entire light out just leaving the casing.

Now with all the sealant holding the glass removed the plastic insert in the front just popped out. I then put it back in the other way around using a wee bit silicone to hold it in

Then gave it a wee coat of black paint then screwed it back in place and clipped the cover back over it. I have a temporary pipe attached to it using some cable ties at the moment but will be getting some proper stuff shortly.

Not a bad wee mod at no cost and am thinking about doing it to the other side for my IC but that one isn't broken and don't want to destroy a perfectly good foggy. I have it removed just now and just have a gaping hole which I guess will be equally benificial to air cooling, just looks a bit naff. Next im going to paint my seat badges black and i'm also working in making something to hold boost and oil pressure guage in centre air vents.

hmmm might consider this as my fogs are redundant now the headlight switch is broke.....have you piped that into the standard airbox or an open cone?

on a remapped leon cupra would i see much performance increase by doing something like this?

It goes straight up into the centre of an open cone filter. Improving the cold air flow does make a bit of difference but obviously the air is going straight into a hot turbo so gains are minimal. It will makes the engine breath easier. I plan to have a metal pipe coming down as the flexi pipe i'm using just now aint much good, will prob buy and modify and old cold air induction pipe to fit. Doing the same to the other side will also benifit the cooling of the intercooler.
