Folding mirror prob

hi there guys, can someone please help...my folding mirrors only fold inwards (it may be just me being stupid).
i'v tried unfolding them manually and get to the point where u force it into clicking but it just folds back in (assuming the button is pressed).
i'v also tried disconnectin the battery a few times.
at the moment i have them positioned manually but they are not secure so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Was going to suggest disconnecting battery but it appears you've already tried that.

tried turning, pressing, turning while pressed...still no joy

Turn the button to either ( on a clock face) 11 or 1 then diconnect the battery and refit say ermmmmm 10 minutes later.

Might work.

will give tat a go tomorro..just wondering if (as i have) when installing a replacement it needs to be either in or out??maybe??

I just set my button to what my new mirrors were, and they worked fine.
