I have heard that when you get your lcr remapped you need to upgrade the spring in the forge 007p, some people on this site seem to have not needed to do this. how can i tell if i need to do this ?

Nor sure.
I have 007P on way, what colour spring should it have and what is the best/strongest to change it to?

Looking to go remap, fmic etc.... so want strongest one.

fellas stick to the standard green or yellow at most (ive got yellow) theres a few 300+ owners here and noone uses anything else.

Opinion is divided.

If you didn't specify otherwise when you ordered, you'll get a green spring. IIRC Forge recommended the Yellow spring for remapped LCRs, but a green one won't cause any problems.

I ran mine for ages with the green spring with no problems, apart from a slight hesitation when changing gear at high revs. I've gone for a stronger spring now.

You don't necessarily want the strongest spring in there, just because it's the strongest.

Edit: Too S L O W

I had my LC remapped and the car was surging, i guessed it was the boost dropping off part way through the rev range then building up again.

I went down to Forge today and bought a spring kit and swapped the std green for yellow - the surging has stopped 99% now and the only thing i did was change the spring.

I think the idea is that the green one can't always stand up to the extra psi in a remapped car and can't keep the valve closed, so it dumps the boost prematurely. It hasn't happened to everyone though.

1 question to the man from forge though is how do I use the spacer thingies that the kit comes with - it says its like a halfway stage between two springs?

the kit with 4 springs and 2/3 spacer things is £10, but a single spring is £9. So it doesn't take Alan Sugar to figure out which one is the bargain!

Forge or their dealers (like me)

I ran Green no problems on lots of boost. Yellow is deffo the stiffest I would be prepared to run.

when I did a leak down test on an 007P it only ever so slightly started to hissssss when 22psi was applied to it.. and I mean you could just hear a small escape of air, nothing that would effect engine performance at all.

Why make the vacuum's job harder to suck the piston up? Harder the spring the less it can suck it up. Go too hard and it does'nt open at all.

Ring forge - they have them in stock for next day delivery. Theyre just not on the site. Think about it, How could anyone else have them if forge don't - and they're the manufacturer :p

I'm running the red one...

Can i ask how much boost your running?

forge said:
Valve Spring color coding

Green - 5-15 PSI

Yellow - 15-23 PSI

Blue - 23-30 PSI

Red - 30 + PSI

Especially as forge say "the red coded springs should not be installed in the DVR or DV007 diaphragm valves"
