At what stage do you need to change the spring and the shimmer things in the DV? And are they extra as i dint get any with mine? Its a 007P.
My 007p still has a yellow spring in it as it was mapped to stage 1, but I've had my map taken off now and it's back to standard. Car feels ok, do I need to change the spring or will yellow be ok for a while?
I think it goes on boost pressure. Green:5-15 yellow:15-23 blue:23-30 red:30+
Are there any obvious symptons of running too soft a spring? Previous owner of my LCR 225 did a Stage 1 P-Torque map but it's still running a green spring. I just serviced the valve and it seems to feel a bit smoother between gears but I'm wondering if I need a yellow spring now.
Yeh id put a yellow one in it mate for definate, too strong a spring acts like a slamming door when it comes to shutting off the turbo which wont do it any favours, too soft i think it doesnt hold boost aswell as it should?
What he said, those are the figures on the Forge website. I've got a blue spring in my 008, I see peak boost of 23.5psi in 4th, higher in 3rd and 2nd. Still dumps fine, even from part throttle. I have undone my N249 bypass though, I probably wouldn't run that stiff a spring without the N249 in place. It's there for a reason.
You may find the valve gets pushed open, I found that with my 007 on a yellow spring, feels like a flat spot somewhere in the rev range. The shape of the piston in the 007 is heavily tapered, if the spring isn't strong enough and/or you're running way more boost than the spring is rated for then it's possible the boost pressure will force the piston slightly open.
Not sure where you're thinking is coming from there. Assuming you still have the N249 then it has a vacuum reservoir, this ensures there's enough negative pressure to pull the piston open, regardless of spring tension.
Someone said the blue spring in mine was too strong for a stage 1 180 cupra and i should revert to yellow as blue puts pressure on the turbo as its too strong? Mines had the N249 removed.![]()
