fitted my green panel filter and split r today. was really surprised how easy it was. took 20 mins all in! thats good for me considering i'm a novice. was also pleased to find the once only clips came off without too much trouble too.
turned split r turny bit fully anti clockwise to start with and no rattle so turned it 2 full turns clockwise (16 clicks). still no rattle so went for a drive. no differences in power/acceleration that i could notice so i'm happy. (car has always hesitated between 60-80 anyway and did on my test run - getting spark plugs and maf changed at next service to try and sort that out.
it's not the loudest dv in the world but sounds ok. I have a green filter and revo stage 1 and you can the whoosh inside the car with the windows up. with the windows down all i heard was the engine/turbo whistle. not sure how loud it is from outside as i'm home alone today and had no one to do a run for me to let me hear it.
tbo, not too bothered how loud it is as i'll prob end up putting the blanking plate on it and run it as a recirc.
had planned to get the 007p but got the split r cheap and as it can both recirc and part whoosh i thought it made sense.
as for the panel filter. it makes the engine sound a little more aggressive/roary and as said above the turbo seems to whistle a bit more clearly.
overall i'm happy. i'll tweak the split r over time if required.
feeling all chuffed with myself now. usually when i try a mod it takes me hours and something goes wrong. fingers crossed that won't happen this time.
i'd recommend anyone who is not technically minded to try this mod themsleves. sounds more difficult to the amateur than it actually is.
