Forge Split R Blow Off Valve Opinions?????????

half the price because its a different valve
most of us having been running 007p's for well over a year with no problems

i think ill get one and keep my 007p as well
 
I'm personally going to wait and see what happens with this, I'd rather let somebody else be the long-term guinea pig! 1.8T ECU's don't like atmospheric valves so it will be interesting to see if those who go for it at launch are still happy and problem free in 12 months time.

Presumably the only way this Forge valve can work is by venting less boost than either the Bailey or HKS... It's not like they are claiming anything magic, simply that they've worked out the maximum boost you can vent without causing a problem.

Is it really gonna give a signifiant noise compared to an OO7p and a CAI?

I mean, obviously the Bailey and HKS systems are the noise some people want, but to vent so little boost as to cause no problems is surely not gonna be particularly noisy? So why bother?

I'm a big fan of Forge as a company, best customer service i've ever had. But by their own admission they are simply releasing a product to meet a perceived demand, not coming up with anything revolutionary.

I'll wait to hear what one sounds like but i'm massivly sceptical that it'll sound 'better' than my 007p/Carbonio CAI and yet is still introducing a boost leak. No matter how small that leak is, everyone knows it's the number one thing not to do...
 
If you read it, Forge have been testing this valve for around 12 months and have got the split in re-circ/blow-off just right so as not to cause any problems, my guess is around 60/40 with 60% being re-circ. If the valve had failed miserably in R&D they would have binned the idea long ago, but they've made it work.

You either like blow-off valves or not, if not then don't buy one, but there's no point is slating it before it's even out! Forge wouldn't risk their reputation on releasing a product that won't work and put all their good work down the pan - have some faith!

:shrug: I didn't/haven't slated it. But we all know the technical logic to why, over whatever timescale, these shouldn't be fitted.

Rob, i'm well aware you are a fan of the BOV. I like the sound too, i want to hear the sound for myself to compare with the 007p/CAI before i buy.

Why put faith in an unreleased product i've never seen or heard and has been tried several times before over the 10yrs or so that the 1.8T has been around? I have every right to be sceptical and to voice my opinion on an open forum, same as you.

If it works, and sounds 'better' than my setup it might tempt me back to the OE airbox and this valve instead of what i have.

Obviously our opinions of what constitutes a 'slating' are vastly differant :)
 
sound good i quite fancy one :) you get a option to turn off the vent so either way if its not brill on vent you just shut it off ?
 
Interesting, i like the switchable nature of it, although how remote this facility is i dont know...........definately a wait and see as i do 25-30k per annum and cant afford problems caused by mods
 
I'm sure quite a few will buy one early on as tons of people have been after a BOV for the 1.8T for a long time. My Bailey DV30 and cone filter are pretty loud, but I intend to buy this new Forge valve to find out what it's like. I'll try and do a vid clip so people can hear what it sounds like.

im a big fan off a blow off valve and was gutted to find out that they dont work on the 1.8T engines..... so £150 for something that gives the desired effect isnt bad considering a CAI and a 007p will set you back £250 ish. but i would like to hear one and find out if there trouble free before i buy aswell...
 
i'v been after one. rang a place up by me called impossible performance and talked to a bloke he said" they do a bow off valve that works for £140" dont know what kind it was tho. so i was going to get one after xmas but spanked all my money on drink over xmas + new year:cry:
 
A mates running a turbo smart one that cost £80 and all seems fine with his. I cant see what the difference is between this and other units. Be intrested to see it run tho
 
In my mind the biggest difference between this and any other BOV is that Forge have done extensive R&D on this valve and specifically the 1.8T engine and got it to work properly - most other BOV's have never been tested on the 1.8T so it's pot luck if they work or not.

great team, great products
never had an issue with anything from them

i will be getting one of these and probably keep my 007p
 
Maybe a strange question, but would the sound be a pssssssstttt or a strange flutter sound that i heard on a astra turbo :S sorry but this it the 1st turbo car ive had not that clued up just yet.
