As a happy MKII Leon FR owner and the wife needs a new motor I've just been to the dealer for my first service. The sales guy handed me a Special Edition flyer for a Formula Sport 100PS 1.4 16V on 16's.

The wife has already tried the new Corsa (hated), 207 (ok but I hate it) and Grande Punto which we both kinda like.

What is the opinion on this model and the Ibiza as a whole, especially with a new version on the horizon? The interior seems much better than I remember, what else has changed? She needs 5 doors and I'll probably go for curtains.

The special is on for 8995, which I can get some discount what should I expect?

We've got a 8 month old baby so saftey is now key, what is the Ibiza like for rear impact?

Sooo many questions.... sorry.

my G/F has one of the first formula sports that was released she got it in late july and she loves it. i think it only comes in 3 door though.

it has the old FR 16" wheels special upholstery which is black with red stitching and generally looks like an FR with the same rear spoiler and front bumper but the rear bumper is different. my G/F's car is painted in Black Magic.

As i said she loves it but being a 3 door may be no good for you.

Thanks.. The flyer definatley has 5 door as an option. I've arranged a overnight tdrive of a 1.4 standard (85bhp I think) as it is difficult to arrange drives with the little one in tow. Did she try the differenent engine types? Was there much differenece between?

i know there are going to be some special editions/offers on the 1.4 coming up in the next few months so id really shop around.

as for crash safety, google the euro ncap results, the ibiza has always fared well for occupant safety, backed up by members reports of accidents on here also.

we test drove a 1.4 85ps sport to and she like it lots so she decided to go for the 1.4 100ps formula sport

to say shes well happy is an understatement. didnt know it came in a 5 door, so im suprised at that but if your missus likes the sport then im sure she will like the formula sport, its got that little bit of extra get up and go

Do you mind me asking? What price did you manage to get the FS 3 door for?

well my sis works for seat so we had money knocked off. we got the paint for free (its a metallic) mats included and the first service for free.

so we prob saved 500 quid

My other half picked up the formula Sport in black magic on Saturday, and I drove it from Oxford to Gloucester on Sunday and it handles quite nicely. ;)
We got the cost of met paint, and another £200 ish off, as well as the mandatory mats and full tank of petrol.
I believe it is available in 3 and 5 dr.

Tried the 85Bhp 1.4 overnight and I was impressed with the performance and handling was ok. The wife however didn't like the brakes as they were a bit loose. Has the 1.4 FS got all round disc's?

The 1.4 I tried had drum's on the rear, and had only done 3k but has probably been thrashed within an inch of it's short life.

even if that was the only thing that she/you didt like you could always upgrade them.... mine on my Tdi pd100 are good but when i get more power i have the audi TT front set up ready... :D

Car has arrived and the wife loves it. One small complaint however is the bite is extreamly low and sharp, and you end up reving it when changing gear. Is this common?

We tested tonnes of cars - new Twingo, Colt, Fiesta, Swift etc but could not find anything that stood up to this car and deal. Got a red 5 door, not much off the price but excellent trade-in on old Clio. Bournemouth Seat had £1000 off - £7995 but offered a pittance for trade in. Collected yesterday from local dealer, pleased so far.

Good price 8k (is that with the trade in?), we spent 9k with the doors, matts and fule, no part x.

i find the accelerator pedal has a lot of movement before it actually does something, my GF dont notice it but i do when compared directly to my cupra

About right I would say. As stated the Bournemouth offer gave about £800 less on trade in (although they quoted Glass's guide price and the Clio traded was a minter) and I much prefer to deal locally.
