Alright all,
My first post on the forums, so please be nice. I'm after a few opinions from what appears to be a very knowledgeable and friendly bunch. Now that I've buttered you all up sufficiently, here's my first question...
I'm now the proud owner of a white 61 plate FR TDI. I was looking at the Cupra for a while, but decided that the FR was a better option. It also kept the missus happy as she thought that the Cupra "wasn't sensible".
Unfortunately I missed the part where SEAT decided to change the BHP for the FR, but after a short test drive I thought it was comparable with my Toyota Celica, if not a little better in 2nd and 3rd gear.
Trouble is, I'm now considering a remap, as that will supposedly get the 140 setup to be a similar power output to the old FR (or the new FR+); it seems such a waste of potential with it sitting at 140.
I currently have the week's free insurance from SEAT. I've got some good quotes for the car in it's standard form (just over £200) but I can't seem to find anyone that will quote for the car with an ECU remap (such as a SuperChips Bluefin).
I've done a comparable quote with a FR+ car of the same age, and the difference in insurance is negligible.
Has anyone found reasonable insurance for this modification? Was the modification worth the problems of finding insurance? My quotes are nearly double, which is very frustrating!
Thanks to all in advance and I look forward to taking part in this forum. I'm looking forward to reading what can be done with the sound system.
Cheers all,
Nick
