Way better than I was expecting. Best mix of economy & performance from a petrol. Will do 135 no worries 
Finding the paddles redundant. 7 gears are too many to cycle through. Auto mode is absolutely fine. Super smooth & quick.
Can't comment on reliability, only done 8k so far.

Kinda wish I had gone for DSG, but nagging doubts on reliability and doubts whether id like to be driving an Auto/DSG for the next 3 years, So I stuck with a manual but the engine is a peach and can honestly say its quicker than I expected (previous car was the 1.2 TSI) and ive done 12k since I got the car
Absolutely love mine!! It's more than quick enough and it's starting to loosen up a bit on 6000 miles.
DSG box is great, especially in traffic, would never go back to manual now.
Long term fuel average is 42MPG (computer), and I don't drive particularly slow.

This is my 4th 1.4/DSG VAG car - a winning combination. Have done over 150,000 miles in them and no issues with the DSG (the twincharger engine was a different matter).
It's not perfect - runs out of puff at the top of the rev range and it sometimes seems to be sluggish coming off a trailing throttle but the second one is cured by flicking the lever back to invoke S mode when approaching traffic islands/Give Way junctions.
Currently showing 53mpg on mine (but I do spend a lot of time in motorway) and does about 530 miles on a tank quite easily with 20k on the clock (in 9 months).

I am lucky enough to have driven both a manual and DSG. I have a manual Fr 150 ecotsi, but the hire car I had in France was exactly the same engine with DSG and I think I preferred it to manual. This is not something I would normally say but the DSG box is fantastic. I got 42 mpg out of the hire car with 3500 miles on the clock. Mine is now coming up to 8000 miles and getting 44-45 mpg real measurements. Fuel consumption is likely to be very similar.
Love my FR 1.4 DSG.
It's a real Jekyll and Hyde car. Poodle along and get 55-60 mpg. Put your foot down and get 35mpg but with a whole heap of fun.
Got mine on Personal Lease, as it was far cheaper than PCP when I looked. Starting point was around £190/month (FR DSG Tech Pack) with no deposit, but I'm paying around £270/month (added CarPlay, Winter Pack, Convenience Pack and 15,000 miles p/a).
