FR Dynamic Pack (DCC) on 184 TDi - Worth it?

Hi guys - was thinking of possibly, maybe getting this option on a 184 FR ST... Is it worth it? It was recommended by someone another thread, but is it just a step too far?

Also, do you get some sort of "profile" option which changes the throttle control and the damping in one go, or do you have to access 2 different menus?

as well as Eco, Normal and Sport there's an "individual" profile where you can set engine, steering and chassis independently. were you going the DSG or manual route?

I am going for the manual transmission. Prices for the Dynamic Pack seem to vary whether you are looking at the Range Price list, or the online car configurator (which appears to get lots of things wrong...) £899 for the Dynamic Pack on the website vs £1300 on the physical Price list.

The price for the FR Dyanamic Chassis Control is £1,300. If you select it through the Configurator (£895 I recall) it will also tell you that the option requires the Media System Plus @ £405, hence the total price of £1,300.

Leon FR's all have "SEAT Drive Profile" as standard which gives you options such as Eco, Normal, Sport and Individual. This adjusts things like the Steering weight, throttle response, engine sound (if above 150ps) and door lighting. What it doesn't do is alter the suspension damping. This is what the Dyanmic Chassis Control (DCC) does. Again this option has different settings including Comfort, Normal, Sport. I'm not entirely sure if the two systems work completely independent of each other.

I selected the DCC on my FR - is it worth it? - I can't answer that yet, I pick the car up in 2 hours!! I never got to drive an FR with DCC so I'm hoping it's good!. However my car is the ST 1.4ACT FR so it does have a different suspension set up at the rear. It's also been that long since I test drove the standard FR I will be difficult for me to compare the two setups.

i have it and i cannot imagine sport profile without it. if you buying 184 or 180 petrol, i think it would be nosense to skip this option! i love it! as well as you want to do nice and easy spin on eco mode when DCC switch to confort mode. like a boat!

Ahh, OK - that makes sense. I gather that if you get the Tech pack with the Navigation system that you will only be paying £895?

Suppose I should be talking to Seat about this - I may just give them a ring and the full spec I want to get a definitive price.

Comes as standard on the my Cupra 280, and for the reasons above it really is a must.:D

Yes, SEAT did agree to £895 on mine as there was the duplication with the media system. It's something your dealer may have to go off and get approved.

It's a great setup DCC is brilliant, like two cars in one really, the difference in ride is noticeable between comfort and Cupra. Setting to comfort on the way back from the track is lovely.

Or when taking your MIL out with the missus for a family day out. Unless you get on the twisty bits and can't stop pressing the Cupra button.

Unfortunately, the UK price for the DCC is much higher than elsewhere in Europe. In Spain, for example, it costs €660 - the equivalent of about £527! Another example of rip-off Britain?

My MIL is past 75, so the twisty bits are a bit used.

Ewwww!

Woah... just calculated the same spec car using the Spanish Seat website (give or take, they seem to have many more options then our website) , and it came to the same price, but in Euros - when converted its just over £23k!!! thats about 6 grand less than in the UK!

sounds like the good old currency dodge - used to be the same for American stuff like levis - $80 US retail (£55 UK) = £80 retail UK.
I worked for a computer firm that did the same - $15000 US selling price became £15000 when sold over here.
They do it with cars too. Mustang is $28000 there. £35000 here.
Surprised Seat do it. Well - maybe I'm not....

I would imagine all manufactures adjust their prices for different markets depending on many factors (import tax, VAT, competition, market share, GDP). It makes business sense. I don't think that should suprise anyone?

Like dieselface said - difference between prices in US and Europe is because of taxes (import tax, but mainly VAT). In Europe VAT is not less than 15% (in Poland currently 23%). In US sales tax is usually much lower (about 6% in most states i believe), and prices given never include it.

Not quite true - in Poland DCC is also roughly £800, and it's after price drop. It used to be whopping £1500 in the beginning.
There are many differences between the markets. I.e. in Poland you get LED headlights as standard for FR and Style versions. BUT SatNav itself costs roughly £800, so about the same as Tech Pack in UK.
