HI all,

I have a problem with my folding wing mirrors on my 2013 FR Leon. When I lock my car and continue holding down the lock button my wing mirrors will eventually fold in, then when I get back into the car an start it they will fold out to there normal position again.

But over the past couple of days my passenger wing mirror has not been folding back out to the normal position and has been sticking while its folding in or out.

Has anyone else had this problem or know what it could be?

Thanks again in advance!

I can't be much help, only to say that I did experience it in my old '08 stylance. Sometimes toggling the switch in & out cured it, occaisonally a little gentle persuasion helped, but it seemed to sort itself in the end.

Could be the motor getting worn out, or maybe it just needs a bit of lubricating where the mirror and base slide over each other when they fold
Fold the mirror, clean out any muck that might have accumulated and lub up the pivot point with some silicon spray

It may help, if not you probably need a new motor

I've had a drivers side replaced under warranty when the car was two years old. It had the same problem as you describe.

I'd suggest some lube on the sliding parts as suggested by dw911. I have often heard a sort of screeching when the mirrors close our open as the mirror body gets caught by the rubber seal. Not a great design imho. Lube makes it move more easily.

that's a bummer.....maybe if you contact Seat Customer Services and spin them a sob story you might get a contribution as a goodwill gesture.
Worth a try for a phone call.....

Yes sorry the 3 years warranty ended in July

If you have FDSH you might find some good grace on this issue. 1 month out of Warranty for something which isnt exactly fair wear and tear would typically be honoured. Always worth asking. May depend of if you are first owner etc though.

I've got the same problem now, my car was registered in Feb 14, has 72,000 on the clock now but I paid for the 90,000 mile warranty so hopefully it should be fine.

Did you get yours sorted?

Damn, that's a lot of money for a folding wing mirror! I am thankful I've got extra warranty.

Since 60k miles I've had a new cylinder head, third brake light, heater fan and a new LCD display.

I look after the car also, it still looks brand new inside despite having 72,000 miles on the clock.

What did they replace?

Same on my old FR. It was 2yrs old. Motor seized. Changed under warranty FOC.

Same. Replaced under warranty. The motor was making a buzzing sound but then stopped. There will be faults logged that you can read with VCDS. Motor circuit short/open depending on the problem. I knew it would be replaced from this before it went in.
