Nice response to the fob-off Andy.
If you are thinking of taking your business elsewhere, meaning the servicing of your family's three cars, I would count up the cost of that servicing over the life of the cars, presented in a nice spreadsheet, and say this is the sort of money you will now not be seeing from me in the future, just because you were a complete tw** and wouldn't let me test drive the new Leon. Might make him re-think his sales strategy!
I've just signed on the line for a new Leon FR TDi 170 and when I went in the showroom, the guys were a little guarded, but when they realised I wasn't just on a Sunday stroll they couldn't get me in the car for a test drive quick enough. Mind you, they weren't budging on price which is the usual thing when a new model comes out. Same happened when my GF and I bought our LCR 225's in 2003.
Which then brings me to the comments about the guys in Seat MK (slightly off topic I know)... but they really do have a sense of customer service. I still laugh at the face of the sales guy when he realised I wanted to buy two LCRs at the same time in a his 'n' hers stylee! £36k in one hit...it was xmas time - anyway their pre-sales and after-sales service was pretty good and I would recommend giving them a try if you are in the area!

To be fair there customer service has got better since the new people started there that all came from Honda and brought the Honda style of customer service. I was very impressed with the service on my 20k mile Leon FR when it needed a new rear engine mount.
We also bought the missus new leon sport there and they were again very good.

they let us out last year in the leon before we negotiated a good deal mind since they drove NEG out they are not as good on price anymore imo.
Dealers make me laugh, some are so far up their own arses

Another vote for MK Seat - went in to drive a 2.0 TDi Stylance and our 3 year old had a mini-strop as he wanted to go out in the silver car (which happended to be an FR), not the black one. Said sorry about this, but could we try that one too? Sales woman (yes, the famous model one!) said "sure, no problem", even though we had not expressed any intention of going for the higher spec car.
Result? Ended up buying a new FR TDi rather than the originally planned stylance!
Now THAT is customer service and how a dealer should operate! A chance unplanned test, and they get the business.

My buying experience was terrible when I was shopping to replace the Focus. Why? I have a pierced eyebrow, lip and dress casual. So does that automatically mean I am not able to afford a nice car. Judgemental dealers/salesman really f--- me off.
In worst to best:
Evans Halshaw - Ford: Terrible service with the Focus. Sold me a car with massive problems and then never cared. Horrible experience and then wouldn't let me test drive an ST, it appeared to be too much effort. They lost a sale on a car I REALLY wanted and had the cash. Sales guys treated like scum.
Smith Knight Fay - VW/Audi : Treated me like chav scum. I wanted to test drive a Golf GT TDI and an A3. Talked down to me and kept pushing naff 2nd old deals at me. Took them ages to organise a test drive. Played with the switches all through the drive and annoyed the hell out of me. Wouldn't let me drive an A3 full stop. Like I couldn't afford it. Grrr
Arnold Clark - Honda : Polite salesman. Test drive was good and he let me drive it how I wanted. Asked about a type R weren't keen to give me a drive. Good service but a bit pushy. As it was I couldn't get on with the new Civic. They are just not good for a shorter statured driver. Reasonable sales service at least and respectful.
David Cook Motors - Seat: Very friendly sales. Test drive without a salesman present. Let me drive Ibiza FR, Leon FR TDI & TFSI and a Cupra over one afternoon. Couldn't be more helpful. Respectful and have had great after sales service from them.
The big dealerships seem to only want to talk to suited & booted people. They make horrible assumptions based on how you dress when you are out of work. It's f---ing annoying. I am an enterprise IT architect for a large ISP, have my house (now) and a good salary. Why was I treated so bad when I was out of my suit with my piercings back in?

S8N to make you feel better years ago when I was lad... My Dad bought a brand new RS Turbo and I can remember the sales guy saying that he had NEVER sold a Cosworth to a guy wearing a suit. People who came in wearing a suit would buy a basic Fiesta, those with money couldn't care less what the wore.
