I am currently in the process of refurbishing the alloys on my Pre-face lift Ibiza FR. The car is painted Black magic and Im liking the idea of going all dark colours to "stealth" it and will be tinting the rear clusters and side repeaters (maybe even fly eyes on the headlights?) and am looking to get window tints and black interior in the future.

I am a professional spray painter (though dont usually do automotive stuff) so I have access to a booth and just about any colour paint I could ever want. I will be removing all the chrome badges and tinting them to make them Black Chrome/Nickel and I will also paint the mirror caps to match the wheels. I am a big fan of using finishes to differentiate colours and textures so I will be spraying the wheels and mirror caps in satin finish BUT Im torn between Satin Black or Satin Anthracite (dark metallic grey).

Unfortunately I only realised after I had removed the wheels I dont have a before picture of the car showing the wheels so I cant photoshop it.

Anyway these are the wheels Im talking about:

Let me know what you think.

I like the idea of anthracite all over - possibly even going towards a dark bronze?

Anthracite, don't go full black.

The alloys on my Megane are anthracite, they go much better with the black paint than the standard silver ones on my Ibiza did.

Black wheels are okay if you are prepared to go mental with tyre shine, as soon as the tyres are a lighter colour than the wheels I think it looks terrible

More proof black and black can work, this time on my old Polo:

Black magic car, black magic centres, polished lips on the splits. Stay with me...

Now, I know yours aren't splits, but you could definitely work the dark wheels/bright lip look. How about black with a narrow neon accent band or the like? I agree with Matt's point about the tyre shine for fully black wheels, but if there's a line to break up the wheel and tyre, I reckon this becomes less important.

I have my wheels Satin Black out of a can which have lasted 2 years. I dont use poor boys wheel wax every 4 months or so to keep them save. Black on black will look awesome!

Love that Z3 coupe!

black on black on a mk 4 ibiza yuk... i'd keep them standard..

yes black on black works on bmw's and that but they are a totally different shape..

The pictures make the colour look slightly lighter than it actually is. I reality it is a dark metallic grey (Ssangyong Trust Grey).

Mirror caps are slightly more matte than the wheels due to some idiot at work taking them out of the oven before the clear was fully cured. :ban: Might pop them off and re-do the clear when I do the wheel center caps.

In the process of spraying mine in Ford Graphite grey, will uplaod pics when done but dont excpect for a few weeks!
