Hi
I have just bought a second hand freetrack with the HDD. The person who owned it before me never paid the extra to have the usb stick slot fitted. I have been to the dealer and they said I can copy discs from a MP3 CD/DVD and brilliant can get them on there. However I am having trouble, despite the dealer putting a disc on there for me getting my music onto the HDD. I am using dragon burn on a mac, converting my songs from itunes from m4a to mp3 format, then burning a disc onto either CD-R and DVD+R. I have tried both CD-R and DVD+R with limited success. The CD-R just plays and there is no option to transfer the songs to the HDD and the DVD+R says error on CD/DVD then just ejects the disc. How can something be so complicated. Can someone give me some advice before I pull my hair out with it. I have 18GB of free space that might as well be a brick.
Thanks
Chris

that sounds a nighitmare set up , i hate to say it but the simplest solution is to rip it all out and stick a double din headunit in with ipod support

as a fellow mac user , i would find all the messing about you are doing to much

the ipod just works ! see my messing about thread link below

you might be able to get the usb slot off ebay and fit it yourself ,

Hi
I can't just rip it out Im afraid as it has a built in satnav and all the works. Any other suggestions to get a MP3 disc together that works on these units.......ta

I have no experience of your particular unit, but just off the top of my head I would say it is the burning software causing issue here, especially if the dealer has managed to do it.

Have you got a PC with Nero or something to test with?

What 'type' of disc are you choosing to burn with - Mixed mode? Data? Audio? In this case I would say a data disc should work (i.e., all your MP3's are stored as data files rather than songs, if you know what I mean).

I'd also try with DVD-R as they are more widely compatible than DVD+R.

Does the unit have an SD slot?

If you can post us a picture, or a point in the right direction of what stereo you have then I think you could get more help.
