Has anyone ever changed the front fog light unit on one of these motors?

It's a 2010 1.6 CR tdi Sport, the unit is the passenger side which looks a massive bell end compared to the driver’s side.

So far we have:

Removed the under tray & passenger side wheel arch cover: this gives access to the lamp unit & the removal of the electrical part with the bulb is a simple anti-clockwise turn & she's out. (The very easy part!)

What we're struggling with is getting the actual fitting from the bumper; Looking at the replacement unit it looks like again it is removed by an anti-clockwise turn which will release it, which we did but can't quite get it, as the black trim that surrounds the lamp is still attached & fouling the adjustment point of the unit not allowing to fully turn anti-clockwise. It also looks like the unit removes via the front of the bumper (any ideas......it's a 50/50!!)

It looks like you have to remove the black trim from around the fog light by accessing it via the rear of the bumper.

HOW THE FRICKIN HELL DOES THIS COME OFF!!!!! I've tried popping the trim retaining clips from the rear but they are tough as old boots & it won't budge.

Thank fully rain has stopped play (& me taking a fire axe to the car!!)

I saw something about a trim removal tool. There must be another way to remove it especially as I've started so I need to finish.

Any help or sensible suggestions would be appreciated.:help:

Got it sorted. Had to take the front bumper off in the end.

I hate the car so much right now, we're not even speaking!

Top tip for the future. Stick to old cars they're dead easy to work on.

 there goes the theory about trading in for a younger model.

Lol the black trim just pops out from the front I believe. Then you can remove it from the front with out needing to take of the bumper. But I may be wrong.

And agreed old cars are easy to work on :D got a classic.mini easiest thing in the world lol

Apart from doing a clutch on it and getting the damn gearbox back in!
