Yes that is a little naughty! I don't know if the one warning thing is true as my manager got pulled a few days ago for his plate, first time ever, and they fined him on the spot. Just be careful
. I had my number plates made up on www.myshowplates.com, I had a black GB logo too (which isn't illegal, as nothing on any websites states that this HAS to be blue) plus coppers have never said a word about them despite always seeing them have a look at my car.
My sidelights were £7 LED Bulbs from eBay, they show up a little on the blue side but, as with the number plate, no police have ever said a word.

I noticed an astra GTC driving round my hometown for a few months with his number plate in different font and spacings, it was only the front one. But one day I saw a standard plate on the front - must have been pulled and forced to change it!
Just a quick one with these square plates, won't the old drill holes e showing either side of the square one ?
I got a tug for dodgy front plate and the number plate bolts (made the numbers look like letters).
I got a verbal warning but Mr PC told me that the rule is three documented pulls and I'll loose my number plate !!!
Swansea recall it / declassify it as a vehicle registration number - making it unusable for road use.....

Ive got the motorbike front plate, no police trouble & old number plate holes easily covered!

Yes they did on mine! I just shoved some vinyl wrap on that section when I changed and it looks fine
A square plate on the front is not illegal. As long as you use the correct spacing and font, it's absolutely fine. If you space it like you've mentioned above, then you'll have issues with the police.

Nope. The bit of plastic your number plate sits on is smaller than the square plate I had. So it doesn't show
Alright Ben, I am gettina motorbike number plate for the front of my Leon Cupra but i dont want to drill new screw holes into the bumper to fit it on. I know you can just get double sided sticky tape but my questions are that if i get the square number plate with double sided sticky tape:
- Can't you see the screw holes that are already there from the old long number plate
- How reliable is the tape, does it ever become un-sticky and what are the chances of the number plate dropping off?

It would depend where the holes in the original long number plate were as to weather you would see them or not with a smaller plate.
As to the double sided tape it's pretty durable. Obviously could loose it adhesive properties after a while but you could always just put some new stuff on
