Tron, If its sufficient for an MOT fail... its the same as having bald tyres, the copper would have to be a real knobend tho, and you could always plead ignorance, I just wouldn't risk it.

DMJ, the plate on my mx5 is held on with double sided tape just at the top and it holds long enough, but after a while it does start to work itself loose...

lol, nervous about that ocming off like lol. I have the proper number plate tape from halfords.

Willem it's Deffo not a 3 pointer mate its just a £60 fine. As is driving with no plate at all ;)

Just to add, mine came with a square plate from brand new. Must admit I prefer it that way too having seen other on the roadwith sstandard plates. Just my taste...

Square plates are fully legal on the front depending on size, font etc. Unless it's a blatant piss take you won't have problems ;)

Tron youre right! I've checked on DVLA and its not 3 points, my bad. but it can be up to £1000 fine and it would fail an MOT.

Graham, a square number plate is legal if you use the right font size and spacing. On imports you can even get away with using a smaller font where the space for the plate is not big enough for a UK plate, but thats by exception only.

I think square plates look good if they're off-set like on my mx5, but not if they're in the middle.

lol I know ;) There is a specific ticket code for number plates, hence it will always (as in always) be a £60 fine and nothing more.

Don't worry about getting fined big money. Thats only if your daft enough to contest the ticket and drag it through court, which i've never known for a plate offence.
