Fuel flap getting stuck

So, tried topping up with petrol and stood there looking like a knob trying to get the fuel flap open ... its stuck shut!

Putting pressure on the flap while pressing the unlock and lock buttons I did manage to get it open and topped up!

However when I get home I tried to open it again ... same problem.

What's the likely culprit for the issue?

Happened to me after owning the car for a few weeks... seems to be a common problem for mk7 golfs and mk3 Leons, you need to change the whole lock assembly, its a question of 30 quid i think, nothing hard to change
