Hi all,

Litter ally just had my cupra remapped to stage 2 by ADS in Preston using Rev software. When I picked it up the guy told me I shouldn't drive it because the fuel pump is running 30 bar lower pressure than it should be and the engine could blow! I don't know that much about this stuff.

The car feels totally fine and always has done.

He said they'd strip the pump and fault find for £100 diagnostics fee and parts and labour on top of that.

He says it could be something simple like a worn cam follower or something major like a build up of swarf in the engine.

I'm worried their full of B'S and just after more cash ..... but also worried my engine might go boom!

Can anyone tell me anything about this ..... anything about the company ...... any experience of this???????

40k a year in that!?!? Jeeeesus lol

Cam follower DEFO needs changing then mate. Buy a cam follower and ask them to change it.

In regards to the pressure I don't know mate. Standard HPFP?

This was mine at 52k

The newer ones have a better / tougher coating on them, I am led to believe.

Prevention is better than cure. Cam follower failure has resulted in plenty of catastrophic engine failures so for the sake of 30 quid it's stupid not too.

Tuned cars probably wear the followers quicker too

Exactly. It's only 30 quid for peace of mind

It's stage 2 with full 3 inch decat and forge twin intake. No the cam follower hasn't been changed....

What software is it? Revo?

Sounds like nonsense to me with regards to the follower. If the follower was the problem then you already have much bigger issues.

Do you have VCDS? Did they log fuel pressure? Ideally to check requested vs actual throughout the rev range under load / full throttle.

At a guess could it possibly be a faulty pressure sensor, faulty pressure control valve thing (the one people replace with the RS4 valve), or have they flashed a 2+ file instead of a normal stage 2?

Just a little about ADS in Preston:

Frank Massey (the owner) was the first accredited master technician in the UK and holds the title of chairman of the board on the IMI committee.
He is regarded as one of the best technicians in the UK, possibly the world and regularly tests products out for the likes of PICO, Bosch, Fluke, Autologic etc
His son David as shares his qualities.
They have been a premier Revo dealer since 2002 and involved in product development amongst other things.

If they say there is an issue, I'd be inclined to take heed of their advice.

Your car might feel fine now but if it blows up in a months time they've covered their back. Mind you low fuel pressure will cause lean running and combustion temps to rocket, valves can be burned out, pistons, rings and bores damaged etc.
