Fuel Pump Relay location?

Hello,

Can anyone tell me where the fuel pump relay is located on an 04 tdi Toledo? I've found a small relay box above the MAF near the windscreen, but there are only 2 relays in there. Not sure if one is the correct relay to replace. The number I have on the part that has arrived is 643 but the number on this relay in place is 100. I've read that the fuel pump relay number should 109 tho lol so I am a bit confused. Can't find an owners manual for leon or toledo and the location in the golf is different. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Dan

ye it's behind the steering wheel, u need to remove the panel and there is a set of about 8 relays, mine was in there. I cant remember the numbering but there is another thread on here I made with all the details in it. I'll find it and post a link

thanks for the reply mate, ive replaced the relay 109, but the car is still faulty, (on vag com it was giving the same fault code as urs) but now it doesnt start, if u keep the starter motor spinning, it does eventualy start, but it struggles as if theres not fuel going in properly, or or the injectors ar playing up, and it smokes loads & then jus cuts out. i got it towed to a local vw/audi specialist to have a look at it for me. any ideas what it could be?

not sure mate, mine never had a problem starting it would just go into limp mode occasionally. On mine it wasn't relay 109 that needed replacing, it was a 52 I think. Did you replace the relay in position 10?
edit: That's the relay position in the TDI anyway

you wont believe this, but the car was miss fueled!!![:@], women, cant live with em, cant live without em!! found this out £200 later. petrol was put into my beloved tdi!!:banned:

but before this the car was doing the same as urs going into limp mode now and then, yes ive replaced the 109 relay, and the same fault code was coming up, theres 2 '52' relays, is it the one with the diesel sticker underneath? (on the right side) ??

still cant bl**dy belive it was missfueld tho! the aa man didnt even know, he said it might be a injector or fuel pressure! well gotta say, my pockets are much lighter now lmao!

The type 109 relay in position 12 is the "terminal 30 voltage supply" relay. The fuel pump relay is in Position 10, the middle of the row of seven sockets on the auxiliary plate, and is a type 53 relay.

If the tank was filled with petrol then you need to empty it , flush out all the fuel lines with diesel and refill the tank with diesel before you try to start it again. Running a PD engine on petrol carries a high risk of damaging the unit injectors, due to lack of lubrication.

The fuel drain is all sorted now, i took it to the local audi/vw specialist as i didnt know why it wouldnt start & theve drained & cleaned the system & replace the fuel filter, cost 200 quid.

im going to check the relay position later on today, the car went in limp mode again last night! its a cupra tdi, if that helps.

i have just replaced my 109 relay (£14), and from what i can gather the car starts on one turn rather than struggling.

will see what it is like on cold mornings
