Fuel system faults?

Hi all,
I have developed a fault with my TFSI FR and I wonder if anyone might be able to shed some light on this?

Symptoms are erratic idle and shaking, revs also rise to 1200rpm of its own accord every now and again, sticking revs when coming off the throttle and pretty big power drop. No problems one day and the issue was apparent after starting it first time in the morning the next.

There are no dash lights on and a quick scan has given me the following codes:

OBD2 - pending:
P0171 - System Too Lean Bank 1
Engine:
P1093 - Bank 1, Fuel Measuring System 2, Malfunction
Engine:
P2177 - Bank 1, System too Lean off Idle
Engine:
P0507 - Idle Control System RPM, Higher than Expected

It has had a new HPFP last year.

Has anyone had this combination of faults together? Any good ideas what it could be? Thanks for any insight.

Do pcv check by trying to open oil fill cap when running if engine doesnt hesitate its another sure sign pcv is going. Its not an absolute test by any means but again something to try to reinforce the fact its pcv. But from symptoms you state it looks to be the culprit as it throws up a variety of codes

Car is booked in with a VAG specialist, but more errors have appeared. CEL is now also lit so did a full scan and came back with this:

ECU info obtained with Carista 2.6.1 for Android:

Engine
Part #: 1P0907115
Component: 2.0l R4/4V TFSI
Coding: 0303000318070160 (hex)
Fault codes:
P2177 Bank 1, System too Lean off Idle
P0507 Idle Control System RPM, Higher than Expected
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0304 Cylinder 4, Misfire Detected
P0302 Cylinder 2, Misfire Detected

Will update the thread with the outcome and any developments for completeness.

Looks like a fuel fault to me, have you replaced your fuel filter lately? If not then i would do so, as a blocked fuel filter could cause everyone of those codes and the ones in your first post too.

If it's not a problem with the pump or filter then i would agree with PCV leak. PCV would have been my first thought, due to the p0507 code, but seeing the latest misfire codes makes me think it's more likely that it's the fuel system.

Edit: Also i can't see a PCV leak causing the P1093 code in your first post, that code alone would suggest to me that it's almost certainly not enough fuel getting to the injectors for some reason.

Misfire codes could also be PCV. These exact codes are thrown up by PCV malfunction in certain circumstances. Not absolutely saying its not a fuelling issue but my money would be on PCV.

Yeah mate, could well be. I'm a MK1 man myself, not got a lot of experience with the MK2 engine so i wouldn't argue :)

I just edited my last post before i saw your reply though. The code P1093 in his first post is the one i couldn't see the PCV system causing? Have you seen that one from a PCV leak too?

Right, have solved it I think..... Went to check if it was the pcv and noticed that the oil cap was not seated correct so that would explain the problems. I think the engine cover was slightly damaged a while ago and so the oil cover does not sit level, so that might be the cause.

Moral of the story, check the cap is on! Thanks for the input guys
