Just for info, if you find you have a flat battery. We have a 2015 plate 2.0 diesel fr. The fans ran constantly and eventually killed the battery.

Bought a new battery, same occurred obs but the previous battery wouldn't charge. Charged it back up to take to the garage.

Garage diagnosed fan housing module.
Complete fan housing replacement.

Result : no change, fans running constantly, battery dead....

Car sent to auto electician by garage.
Diagnosed faulty ecu:

Second hand ecu purchased to be mapped with the original ecu map from the apparently burnt out ecu.

I'll let you know if it works.
 
That is very unfortunate, normally I'd suspect the fan control module or the fan thermal switch or just wiring, pity they rushed to assumptions and cost you a new fan assembly first time!
 
It's been one of those faults that nobody seemed to know how to fix, everything has been checked, coolant sensors, thermal switch, wiring is fine. Hoping the ecu replacement fixes her, we shall see. Didn't help that the battery is in the boot. Obs when it's dead central locking doesn't work and it meant climbing in the back, nightmare tbh
 
Just one thing, hopefully only for the future if at all, when a car like Ibiza is "dead" obviously you can unlock the driver's door using the key in the barrel, the passenger's door(s) can be opened by pulling the internal handle maybe twice, the driver's door can be locked with the key in the barrel, and the passenger's doors can be locked by sticking the key in the manual locking point on the door edge (under a rubber cover with a padlock on it). The hatch can be opened using the key or similar in the horizontal slot low down on the inside of the hatch - sliding the key across.
