Hiya

I've just been quoted £60 by a garage for them to run the vagcom after my car had the diagnostics/excessive polution light come on, this seems pretty excessive to just run a piece of software,

Can anyone reccomend a decent garage who won't charge the earth for this? I'm in the forest Hill area of London (SE23) I normally get the car serviced etc when I'm back in wales visiting so I've not had to use a garage up here yet.

I did think about getting the kit from ebay and seeing if I could work it out myself, but I'm not really confident about my abilities to do this without breaking it :)

Cheers guys

Unfortunatly don't get back to wales as often as I'd like :(

A freind has just suggested a mate of his who can do it for me and maybe fix it depending on the fault.

I'll update the thread tomorrow in case it helps anyone else with this problem

Thanx everyone

Hi,

Would you be so kind to help me with your vag-com? I have some trouble with air-con.

It would be fantastic if you helped me to check that. I live in SE14 and I would be more than happy to drive to your area around M25.

The code readers can't break anything, and even if you take it back to the garage to have the problem fixed, at least you've saved the initial £60.

Ebay cables for use with a laptop are now below the £10 mark, standalone units aren't much more expensive. And I'd recommend anyone who owns a VAG car to get one, just to save the £60 a time. After all, don't forget that once you have the fault code (£60) and fix the problem (£££) you have to pay another £60 to have the fault code cleared!
