Hello people with my list of things that keep going wrong for me today the 1998 cordoba 2.0liter 16v abf engine desided that its not gonna like going into gears while driving, Its not slipping and still has fluid but is crunching 50% of the time when you change gear ....any ideas

cheers

check above the clutch pedal specifically the mounting plate/box assy

symptoms you describe are a sure fire start of the pedal box splitting or even a knackered cable

drop the glovebox under the steering wheel and get someone to operate the pedal while you look with a torch - should be no frame movement at all if it's ok then check arm movement under bonnet also

so if there is no movment in that how can i know if cable is good or bad ??

Is it only in certain gears? my syncro was screwd in 3rd so it was cruching most of the time going into that gear and over the course of a few months it got worse, bout a month ago it wouldnt go into reverse and all the "up" gears had problems so its time for me for a new gearbox.

So it may be a syncro if its just in ceratin gears.

:) god bless self fixing mk2's - just don't ever look at another car mind otherwise she'll bite ya

Haha mine seems to be the other way round, whenever i look at another car she trundles along happily, then ill be pottering along thinking "you know, i cant really see myself driving another car" sure enough the gearbox will go, or pedal box snap, or ignition box thingy will blow... still love it though :D
