need a new gearbox for my mk3 ibiza cupra.
i know the code is 02J but after ringing around i have been offered a nearly new diesel gearbox which code on side reads EGU.will this fit okay?
also if it does surely the gearbox should be a stronger gearbox?

help:confused:

so its no good then. i understand the gear ratios will be different but they'll be longer if owt wont they?
the bloke at the transmission place said he couln't see why there wouldn't be a reason why it wouldn't fit and that it would be a stronger box due to having to withstand alot more torque from the diesel cars?

you're slowly transforming into a DERV machine :D

T. Spark will be proud! ha ha

From what I gather a diff pin rivert has spat its dummy out and decided to leave the building :p

I thought it was only certain gears that people likes in boxes, i.e VR 1st~2nd, Derv 5th not all the gears.

yeah staying well away from the diesel box as like most people mentioned it wud just hinder the peformance. i think il just have to sit and wait for the right gearbox to come along.

not happy :(

Different final drive for me when i had the box rebuilt with the diff in, cant see me ever doing what the standard 3.2 fd will allow so i went for an mk2 ibiza final drive of 3.6 for shorter gearing.
