Anyone got the correct code for the gearbox on a 2000 Leon 1.6 AUS? Looks like I might need one :(

I think it could be a ERT code with p/n 02K300049N (number 3 below)

Suggestions for the best place to source one ASAP appreciated and also best place for sourcing a new clutch and flywheel.

ERT is the only box listed for that engine, which only seems to have been fitted to Leon/Toledo models for one year.

Might be difficult to find one at a scrapyard. :(

Hmm thats a bummer. Listed requests online anyway, so we will see :)

Any suggestions for the best place to source a reconditioned box folks? Anyone had any experience with gearbox failure on this box? Turns out that a fair few may have gone as well as mine.

I had this same problem on my mk4 golf AUS box, got a reconditioned box and clutch for £600 fitted.

The problem is the rivets used in the gearbox, there weak and this can lead to holes, oil then leaks onto to the clutch and leads to clutch slipping.

Is yours slipping?

Anyway, heres two places

1. Heres the link for a place in wolverhampton.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-MK4-A...3|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:1|294:50

2. I got mine from Goldings Garage in Dartford. They did a good price if you mention uk-mkivs and I was well happy with their service.

Thanks mate. I got one for £575, reconditioned with 2 year guarantee and uprated so the common failures do not happen.

Also ordered a genuine clutch kit for £130 through a mate at a VW dealer.
