gearbox

hope someone can help on this
ive just had a new pedal box fitted (dont know if this has caused the problem)
when the car is stationary there is a low grinding noise coming from the gearbox when i push in the cluth pedal the noise gets really loud.
It changes into gear and drives fine though any thoughts

the same happend to mine mate was goin in all gears but when i put my clutch in it go louder after a few days i stop driving it got a mobile mechanic out and my 5th gear had blown out and i had to have a refurbed gearbox

thanks thats cheered me up no end thought it might have been a thrust bearing

Could be the bearing my Polo did this on a 1.4 engine

is ther any way to tell or will it have to have the gearbox taken off
