Has any1 tried replacing bearings in there 6 speed gearbox for a leon cupra R. i av a 2004 leon cupra r with bearing grinding in 1st and third and was wonderin if any 1 has attempted this there self as it would cost bout 500 to get done by a gearbox place

I brought a Cupra R last week, 8 miles later it went back to the garage as the bearings (i think) had collapsed as when going down the box into 3rd it whined quite bad, they have sent it off so when I get it back I'll let you know if its worth doing!

Bit of a bad subject with me at the minute, drove the car 8 miles and then it went back on its way to Sunderland :-(
Not good when its 4 hours form you!

its a bit of a pita to diy, id leave it to the pros, then if it goes wrong at least its warrantied
