anyone know if this style of plate is legal in the uk?
g :)

German style are deffo illegal in the U.K, there have been a number of threads about this in the General forum.

I think some guys on here have actually been fined for having German style plates.

ANPR is an issue, but also you can get these plates without proving that you have the right to use them (i.e. you can potentially get any registration put on them). Offical legal U.K plates can only be produced if you prove your registration details.

The plates above are illegal in the UK.

Do not fit them if you dont want hassle, fines and possibly points.

However here is the answer:
These are pressed plates but with UK font and are british standard compliant and therefore legal.
You will also see ive done some leg work for SCN members which mean if you are in the Bristol area or post in your docs you can get £5 off from dubmeister.

I have a 3/4 size front number plate on my car and yesterday I did a three point turn in a quite layby while a traffic rozzer was having a butty (dident see him till last minute as he was tucked away in the bushes:whistle:)

He wound his window down and said that my number plate was illegal but if I would let him have the keys for 15 minutes he would let me off. :p

I said that he wouldent be able to handle the power, smiled and drove off with a wheel spin :cartman:

Its the way you handle rozzers, you can get away with quite alot.

by not calling them rozzers to their faces would be included in that ;)

In my experience, if you are polite they give you an 'option'.
Give them atitude and why would they be reasonable?

However in general the number plate issue is one thats above their head. ANPR systems monitoring systems, congestion charging etc, they all need standard type plates.
The law has been tightened and they are under instructions to cut down on plates that are not standard.

If you get caught with a dodgy plate you have been warned.

...while a traffic rozzer was having a butty...:

The reason why he was ok is in the above quote... ;)

german plates are pressed metal with a different font.

Old cars had black plates with white or silver characters.
These are only legal on very old cars. (probably 30 years plus old or there abouts)
It would be illegal on your car.

If the car is registered before 1969/1970 or before for black and white plates only.

You might be right about him having a butty but he also have a female P.I.L.F in the passenger seat as well:drool:
