Right this is really starting to do my tits in. Basically every time i start the car now, cold or hot, it spews blue/ grey smoke from the exhaust. Once i start driving it goes away and is fine, but when it does smoke there is a lot of smoke, clouds of the stuff
So, turbo? If it was the turbo it would do it all the time right?
Valve stem seals? It would do it every time on idle?

I put in a sports cat for the mot, if the car is remapped with no cat would this make a difference?
I also keep getting eml and code, evaporative emissions which i guessed n80 needs replaced? Would this cause it?

Anything else you lot recommend?
If i cant get to the bottom of it, i will end up stripping the car, its getting that bad.
I really have fell out of love with the car due to this happening over and over, and its really **** :(
Someone help haha

Take the tip off and check the turbo for axial play.. In and out, if it moves enough to feel it move clearly then its on its way out. Easiest way to check turbo.

How many miles on the head / turbo?

Failing that if its all good there then as chambers says, valve stems, mine smokes hot high up the revs a little, and when started hot but hey, 140k, over 80k pushing 21 psi out the tiny snail! Now onto a little larger snail.. And building a replacement engine!

Valve seals normally it'll smoke on over run. Turbo then should smoke when you boost it.

As your running a big t3 setup I'd say maybe the head as the t3 is Farley reliable but might aswell check it for play but that don't mean it's that that's causing it to smoke. Can you smell oil?

Is it the pcv pipe or sumet that causes these to smoke sometimes a lot. Also you running a catch can?

Could a faulty lambda cause it to smoke over fuel? But usually over fuelling is black smoke...?

Your on fb arnt you? Look out for tomorrows Cupra lol agu converted and that ;)

Maybe valve stems mate yeah. Think you'd know about it if the turbo was gone

Is it over fuelling?

Nope not overfuelling that i know of. If it is then its a small amount.
I think valve stems is my first point to replace as there cheap. Got an agu head sat in the garage anyway doing nowt so good excuse. If that doesnt cure it then i dont know.
Turbo seams fine to me as i checked it just about 2 weeks ago.

Think ill just take it a day at a time but will stop driving it incase i damage something too much

Just phoned SEAT aberdeen for new stem seals.
So next question.... Would you guys use pattern stem seals or always genuine? The reason i ask is because i can get pattern ones for £30 but genuine from the dealers are over £120

Gsf ones getting ordered :). Seat just seem to charge an arm and leg for everything. Couldnt believe it when he said that price.
Gsf do seem to be the place for most parts ;)

Been having a very quick read on what the vvt on our engines is all about. Seems its for cold start emissions. Do you think this could be my problem? After all the smoke i am getting is pretty much only cold start, once i start driving its fine....

mk3 ibiza - you don have vvt

it wont effect oil consumption... temperatures however will as is cold start when left to cool overnight and dribble to where it sits overnight to be puffed out on cold start in the morning. stem seals, combined perhaps with exhaust valve guide wear ?

Thanks for the reply bill, got stem seals on order so will see about replacing the exhaust valve guides aswell.
At least it gives me an excuse to fit my agu head haha. Look on the bright side an all that.
