GFB Divertor valve

How do you know when it's wastegate chatter then?
I think all the GFB hybrid valves give a flutter sound back through the air intake which GFB says is quite normal. I thought it was the piston in the DV bouncing up and down because I get the tshhh from the valve and the flutter through the induction.
It's been on there a while now but my MAF going dicky is coincidental and the ecu errors that came up were just due to the MAF. When all is well, I'll do some logs with the GFB on and post them up. Car is not remapped.

Todd, have you got the GFB dv?

Wastegate chatter / flutter sounds like a pidgeon dieing!

Yes I have and I'm not currently holding it responsible for my recent performance issues. :D I think I've proven it's the MAF's fault by logging a max 70g/s. All I can liken the fluttering noise to is a Leon I heard with a knackered OEM Boch DV where the diaphram was going wobbly. I think it sounds nice though, especially after the Tshhh. I'd still rather have speed though and would sacrifice the tshhhh for a remap. Mine came with a blanking plug to replace the trumpet and make it fully recirculating but I understand it's the spring that causes the problems with remaps, not the fact it's dumping some of the air. Maybe GFB do stronger springs? I haven't checked.

I ran the turbosmart dual port venting in and out which could be adjusted. I didn't get any more of a whoosh when it just vented in. The spring is adjustable but would occasionally stall. my mates GFB did the same, the spring wasn't strong enough especially once mapped

GFB state:
"There will quite often be some low-rpm flutter with an aftermarket BOV installed, since they work differently to a factory valve in order to allow them to vent to the atmosphere and make the blow-off whoosh. Rest assured this does NOT damage the turbo."
