Going ko3/ko4 hybrid

Being giving this some thought for quite a while now and have decided to do a stage 3 jbs o4 conversion, well i say jbs04 im not actually getting my turbo from jbs its pretty much the same spec tho and they will be doing my mapping. Im only doing this because i had a ko3s with 10k on laying around so decided to get the work done to that trying to keep costs down.

My forge front mount is due in a couple of days and today ill be sending a cheque to a member on here for some injectors. Hope fully i can pick up some of the other small bits second hand too.

Yesterday i took my turbo in and we decided to build it to the jbso4 spec, a few other minor tweeks and as much polishing as we can get away with. Plus i think he said that it will not have a silencer on when complete.

will the forge intercooler be any good past 300bhp , i thought they maxed out at about that , if u r going k04 hybrid , i would of thought you would of seen past 300bhp , they are meant to spike at 2 bar , and hold 1.4 bar to the redline , turbo dynamics quoted there turbos at 315 - 330bhp

never seen a K04 produce a "real" 300bhp, hybrid or not.... yet

Yeah i think 300 is a bit optimistic, i am adding the mani too. Still even if i see 280 i will be happy coz i imagine it wont be shy

Hiya nick just posted your cheque mate, erm i getting the jbs ko3 equal length item. Im not sure of the entire spec or how hybrid it actually is, but they are ko4 internals so in theory i am going to see at least 280? i hope. Jbs rate stage 3 at 300bhp so that is my guide at the end of the day they will be mapping it.

Went to jbs open day the other week there was a lad running a jbs04 and cat-back blueflame and he made 242bhp still on smic as well

I saw a leon with a k04 hybrid at a rolling road, it ran a 300bhp with a 301 lbft....but they had to take it easy on the rollers as it can have a boost spike and and saw 362 lbft figures!

Great stuff cheers mate, when ive been down there ive seen some of their manifolds in cabinets and the do look very good. I know that this is not a particularly popular conversion, but how many people are running stage 3 or similar and do we have any idea of their results

thats an impressive result there! My AM04 turbo only made 260 bhp but 307lbft of torque, apparantly it was mapped conservatively but think that was crap to be honest, most other k04 cars seem to be getting 280 minimum. Id be very happy with anything near 300bhp from a k04

yes mate am happy the way the car runs car holds 1.2 to the redline boost is there when ever you want it think it is only 2-300 rmp more than standard boost

Well its good to know that the spool up is pretty similar to standard, and it holding 1.2 to redline sounds good, to be honest thats the one thing that really annoys me about stage 1 map on my ko3 is that it runs out of puff so quickly
